Introduction

At Voru (“we”, “our”, or “the Company”), your privacy is very important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Voru app.

Voru is a news summarization app that curates trending and important AI & tech articles from multiple sources, summarizes them in under 60 words, and presents them in a swipeable feed. You can scroll through summaries without creating an account, and optionally like, comment, save, share, or customize your feed based on interests and sources.

By using Voru, you agree to this Privacy Policy. This Policy applies to the Voru mobile application and website. It does not apply to third-party websites or apps (such as the original news sources we link to) — each source has its own privacy policy.

Information we collect

Since Voru is account-free, we collect only limited information.

1. Information you provide

• Interactions: likes, comments, saves, shares, selected interests, and sources.
• Feedback / support requests: if you contact us via email or forms.
• Account information (future versions): in upcoming versions, you may optionally create an account to log in, sync your preferences across devices, and save your personalized feed. If you choose to log in, we may collect your email address, name, and password or OAuth token.

Note: we do not require your name, email, or login to use the app feed.

2. Information collected automatically

• Device data: device model, operating system, app version, language, crash reports.
• Usage data: pages/screens viewed, time spent, and which news summaries you engage with.
• Cookies / similar technologies (website): used for analytics and personalization.

3. Third-party data

• Analytics services (e.g., Google Analytics / Firebase): used to measure app performance, detect bugs, and understand engagement.
• News sources: Voru links to original publishers (e.g., TechCrunch). Clicking those links takes you outside our app into third-party websites governed by their own privacy policies.

How we use your information

We use collected information to provide and improve Voru’s feed and features, personalize your content (based on selected interests and sources), enable social interactions (likes, comments, saves, shares), measure engagement and app performance, fix bugs and maintain security, and show links to original news articles.

Data sharing & disclosure

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share limited information with service providers (cloud hosting, analytics, crash reporting, push notifications), legal authorities if required by law, and as part of business transfers (e.g., a merger or acquisition).

Data retention

• Engagement data (likes, saves, comments, shares) is stored only as long as necessary for the feature to function.
• Analytics and crash data are retained according to third-party service provider policies.
• You can request deletion of your interaction history by contacting us.

Data security

We use encryption, secure servers, and access controls to safeguard your data. In the unlikely event of a data breach, we will notify users and regulators if required by law.

Children’s privacy

Voru is not intended for users under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Your privacy rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights such as accessing the data we hold about you, requesting deletion of your data, withdrawing consent for analytics or personalization, and opting out of personalized content.
